Epise leverages Nexica antivirus and antispam filter
Introduction
Epise is a company which has been providing professional services focused on the development of people talent and the improvement of business profits since 1965. It provides a global service to its clients, ranging from the diagnosis of the initial situation, the design and implementation of the best solution for every case and the final evaluation to demonstrate the added value.
It has offices in Barcelona, Madrid, Gijón, Mexico City, Buenos Aires and Lima, and clients in more than 15 countries.
Initial requirements
In view of its international nature, Epise requires a stable e-mail platform with 24x7 availability all year round with security measures that prevent virus infection via this channel or spamming, which saturates mailboxes and leads available resources to be wasted.
It also needs the utmost security guarantee on its Exchange platform, limiting the visibility of mail services to the outside to avoid external attacks.
Technological solution adopted
Nexica evaluated the case and Epise's current and future needs and offered it the “Mail Gateway” service as the best alternative. The service consists of guaranteeing security on two fronts:
- on the client's mail server: this avoids the direct publication of the server on the Internet because it is the Nexica platform that receives and sends mail. With this setting the client's IP is not published and thus avoids direct avoid attacks on the equipment and the possibility of being blacklisted.
- in e-mail: by filtering incoming and outgoing mail for spam and virus before the mail reaches the Epise mail server and/or getting onto the Internet. In addition, it is the actual client that parameterises antispam filters at its convenience, with white and black lists to add domains or mail addresses and different levels of application of the filtering rules.
Conclusions
With the gateway service contracted in Nexica, Epise has managed:
- to reduce the IT department's management time of the mail platform -because failure causes have also diminished - and thus engage in other valuable tasks.
- to increase corporate e-mail security measures.
- to regulate antispam levels as it needs.
- to reduce dedicated Internet bandwidth costs.
