Apli continues to rely on Nexica after almost a decade
Introduction
Apli Paper, S.A. (hereinafter Apli), a leading company with 65 years experience on the Spanish market in the manufacture of labels and stationery articles, has been covering the needs of users in offices, IT, the home, commerce and school and currently exports its products to more than 85 countries all over the world.
In the year 2000 Apli was looking for an ICT provider that could take over the global management of its Internet and telecommunications services, as well as those of the group it belongs to (Caposa Investments, S.A.)
Initial requirements
To centralise and simplify the integrated management of its Internet- (e-mail, domain, web hosting...) and telecommunications-related services (Internet connections, virtual private networks, routing equipment and maintenance...) Apli needed a provider that could deliver these services with the following requirements:
- Global management: the Apli IT department has to focus its activity on the development of innovative internal projects that will allow it to expand the company and align technological solutions with enterprise growth plans.
- Flexibility: the provider must be able to propose alternatives that adapt to Apli's needs at all times or even pre-empt them proactively, with technological solutions that simplify the Apli IT Department's tasks.
- High availability: have a website with worldwide presence - that is constantly updated and expanded - and international communications via e-mail or directly with offices requires high availability and an easy-to-scale platform.
Technological solution adopted
Apli needed Nexica's solutions to address two technological aspects and which had to cover the three preceding requirements:
- Hosting solutions: the initial solution of hosting the group webs on a Nexica shared platform evolved to what is now a dedicated service (virtual server) and totally managed hosting of these webs, which leverage the other services available in the provider's infrastructure (back-ups, licences, Firewall, balancing, monitoring and management). External e-mail and the management of Internet domain names can also be implemented through the Nexica managed infrastructure, which delivers the levels of security and stability that Apli regards as indispensable.
- Managed services: Apli's needs have gradually evolved towards contracting Nexica's global management services. In this way, it has delegated the remote management of telecommunications equipment that cover the virtual private network away from the head offices in Barberà del Vallès and which Nexica initially configured and implemented.
Conclusions
Nexica was chosen as the ICT provider that meets Apli's requirements, as well as being capable of evolving at the same pace required by the company from the year 2000 through to the present day. Designing and implementing the solutions that Apli's business has needed to push through its expansion and growth plans and proposing new alternatives in the circumstances that the label manufacturer has encountered over all these years, has enabled Nexica to continue to be the ICT provider of this large group of companies.
Testimonial
“The multitude utilities delivered by the Apli Web to its final clients and its worldwide localisation means that we need a dedicated web hosting platform available round the clock whose management can be delegated”.
